Payroll giving promotion February 2010

Posted date: 1 February 2010

Conwy Council has launched a communications campaign to promote its workplace giving scheme to its employees.

The scheme was first launched in 2006, but only five workers signed up to it.

In November last year, the council relaunched the programme by arranging for visits to 10 workplace sites, a dedicated email campaign and an article in its newsletter.

The scheme has now been taken up by 50 employees.

Payroll giving or Give As You Earn is a way in which employees can make regular tax-free payments to charity directly from their pay. Each £1 given will only cost employees 80p, or 60p for higher rate taxpayers.
