Childcare vouchers are preferred flexible benefit November 2009

Posted date: 2 November 2009

Childcare vouchers have topped a list of the UK’s most popular employee benefits, a recent study shows.

Hewitt’s Flexible Benefits Survey discovered that childcare vouchers are offered by 98 per cent of flexible benefits schemes.

Dental insurance is the second most popular benefit,  offered by 92 per cent of organisations, while bicycle schemes are offered by 91 per cent of companies.

Martha How, Head of Reward Consulting at Hewitt Associates, said: “Childcare vouchers top the list of flexible benefits, but their current tax-free status is under threat. Scrapping tax relief on these will have a major knock-on effect, especially for employees that rely on the tax benefits they have through childcare vouchers.”
