Auto-enrolment dates are pushed back September 2011

Posted date: 2 September 2011
Smaller employers have to be given more time to prepare for auto-enrolment.

The Government has proposed some changes to the pension reform that will give small firms that share Pay As You Earn (PAYE) schemes up to two years extra to prepare.

The revisions apply to organisations with fewer than 10 employees, but are included in a PAYE scheme which has in excess of 239 members.

A business which falls under the above description and is part of a PAYE scheme with 250 individuals will, for example, have their staging date postponed by 23 months. It will move from 1 February 2014, to 1 January 2016.

The adjustments to staging dates were published within the consultation by the Department for Work and Pensions, entitled: Workplace pension reform: Consultation on draft regulations and guidance.

September 2011
